The work of CCA
Colchester Conservative Association (CCA) was formed on January 1st 2007 following the Boundary Commission’s decision to change the Parliamentary boundaries at the next General Election.
After the next election, the new Colchester constituency will be home to over 60,000 people. The Association has adopted Will Quince as the Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Colchester.
CCA exists in order to:
- Secure the election of a Conservative M.P. for Colchester;
- Secure the election of Conservative Candidates at Local Council Elections;
- Spread the Conservative message throughout Colchester and encourage support for Conservative policies and beliefs;
- Raise money to fund this work.
By becoming a member you have the opportunity to help with this work. You can help in many different ways ranging from simply paying a subscription, which helps pay for election campaigns, to serving as a Councillor. Find out more about getting involved by using the links above or by clicking here.
We work as a team alongside Harwich & North Essex Conservative Association to represent members locally. Our offices are located at:
Unit C2 East Gores Farm, Salmons Lane, Colchester, CO6 1RZ

There are many different levels at which you can participate – the choice is yours. To join now, download our membership form: here.
SUBSCRIBING
You may decide that you simply want to pay an annual subscription and have no further involvement. Any person living in the UK is eligible to join the Conservative Party. There is no upper or lower age limit on membership, although children under the age of 15 are not entitled to full voting rights. Your money will be used to fund campaigning and to spread the Conservative message. You will be kept informed of all the Association activities and will be able to take part in candidate selection and policy discussion.
The recommended minimum subscription fee is £25 per person, but please feel free to subscribe more if you can afford it. A concessionary rate of £5 is available to young people up to the age of 22.
GETTING INVOLVED
There are countless ways to be an active member of the Colchester Conservative Team, some of which are outlined below. If you wish to get more involved in supporting your local Conservative Association, contact Anne Allen (Anne.Allan@ColchesterConservatives.com) for more information.
Leaflet Delivery
We have a regular programme of leaflet delivery to all homes in the constituency. You could simply volunteer to deliver your road or further afield, either on a regular basis or just during election campaigns. You can deliver as many or as few as you wish. We will not press you to do more than you are able Our aim is to have a large number of volunteers, each delivering a small number of leaflets.
Join The Campaign Team
The Campaign Team takes part in all aspects of running our election campaigns, including leaflet delivery, survey canvassing, and election canvassing. There is training and support for those who are new to campaigning, and no one is “thrown in at the deep end”. This work is vital in helping us to win more Council seats and winning Colchester at the next General Election. So why not come along, help the Conservative Party and have some fun in the fresh air?
Service At The Association Level
The Association is run by an Executive Council led by a team of volunteer officers. All of the posts are up for election each year and any member can progress to these posts if they wish.
Conservative Policy Forum
The CPF (Conservative Policy Forum) enables members of the Conservative Party to engage in political debate on the big issues of the day and to influence the policy of the Party. Colchester Conservatives have regular meetings to discuss the latest briefs, typically one to three meetings per quarterly brief. Our opinions are then summarised in a report which is sent to Conservative Central Office for consideration. If you would like to get involved, please contact Alan Drew (Alan.Drew@ColchesterConservatives.com).
Social Events
As a member of the local Conservative Party you will be notified of the many social functions held throughout the year. These include lunches, dinners, dances, trips and tours, quizzes, bring & buy sales and much more.
Women’s Group
The HNECA Women’s Group organise regular lunches with high profile Guest Speakers. Please contact Cllr. Sue Lissimore (sue.lissimore@ntlworld.com) for further information.
Win With The Bonus Ball Club
The Association Bonus Ball Club has been running for several years and has proved to be very successful. All profit is used to help fund our campaign work. There is a prize of £20 every Saturday and a BUMPER prize of £100 twice a year. A lucky number can be yours for only £1 per week! Please contact Anne Brown on (01206) 321241 for more details.
If you are interested in any of these activities or would like to help in any other way, please get in touch.
