Conservative candidate urges innovative ideas to promote town heritage
Conservative Parliamentary candidate Will Quince calls for Colchester Borough Council to take the lead in protecting and promoting our town’s unique historic assets. Will Quince said:
“Looking after and actively promoting Colchester’s history should be a fundamental priority for the benefit of everyone living and visiting our town. We must seize the opportunity to bring tourists here just as with other historic places such as Lincoln, York and Bath.”
“I regularly walk past Balkerne Hill and it saddens me to see crumbling Roman bricks and stones. We should be maintaining these historic assets and I wonder if we could light up the wall. This would not only celebrate the wall but it would also improve the experience for people using the pathway on Balkerne hill”. On funding Will said:
“I understand there are limited resources but for the sake of Colchester’s future generations the Council must lead in this. If I was elected to represent Colchester I’d be fighting to bring external funding sources here to preserve and celebrate our heritage”
