Chancellor Needs Tax “Advice”

By Grant Mitchell • May 25th, 2009 • Category: Blog

Over the last week or so, ministers across all parties have been grilled by the Telegraph for their expenditures and claims. Now it has emerged that nine cabinet ministers, hired accountants to help them with their tax returns.

One of these ministers was our Chancellor, Alistair Darling, who’s accountancy bill came to £1,400 over a two year period.

In his defence Darling said he had paid an accountant to prepare tax returns “to ensure… the correct amount of tax was paid in respect of my office costs”.

Now, the issue here is that he had to hire accountants in the first place. Is I am not mistaken, Alistair Darling is the Chancellor of the Exchequer. Surely out of any cabinet minister is the Chancellor who can fill in his own tax forms…

So, we have a Chancellor running the countries budgetary accounts, and he cannot even fill out his own tax return form…

The list of Labour Incompetence continously grows.
